August 2007: Dave Branfman was a panelist at the San Diego Music Foundation's Saturday workshop " Music Industry 101: Label Deals - Be Careful What You Wish For". This workshop addressed the music industry's seemingly broken business model, artist concerns, the current label landscape and alternatives to the record label game. Dave participated in the panel discussion along with Joe Maggini (BMI), Pall Jenkins (Blackheart Procession), Eric Howarth (M-Theory Music), and Brian Karsicg (Louie XIV). July 2007: David Branfman was named one of San Diego's "Super Lawyers" for 2007 in Intellectual Property and Entertainment Law. "Super Lawyers" are nominated and voted on by their peers in the community. This was Dave's first time on the San Diego "Super Lawyers" list. June 2007: David Branfman was named one of the San Diego Daily Transcript's Top Attorneys for 2007 in Intellectual Property Transactions. The Top Attorneys recognition pays tribute to the region's best attorneys; attorneys are nominated and voted on by their own peers. This is the second year in a row that Dave was named a Top Attorney in the Daily Transcript's annual poll; he was also named a Top Attorney in 2006 in Intellectual Property Transactions. March 2007: Dave Branfman's article entitled "Use An "I" - Go To Apple Jail?" was published in EMMY NEWS, a publication of the Pacific Southwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. January 2007: Dave Branfman was the featured presenter at the monthly meeting of the Entertainment & Sports Law Section of the San Diego County Bar Association. His topic was the current status of idea submission claims in the entertainment business and was entitled "The Life and Death of Jeff Grosso's Implied Contract Lawsuit". November 2006: Dave Branfman was a featured speaker at the California Western School of Law/University of San Diego School of Law "Fall Entertainment & Sports Law Symposium". His presentation was entitled "Protecting an Athlete's or Entertainer's Name, Voice & Likeness". September 2006: Dave Branfman and Mark Reichenthal appeared as the guests on the call-in television show "Lawyers on the Line" and answered questions about a variety of copyright and trademark topics. September 2006: Dave Branfman presented "A Dirty Dozen Hot Intellectual Property Topics" to the Business & Intellectual Property Section of the San Diego North County. Bar Association. August 2006: August was a busy month: Dave Branfman was named one of San Diego's "Top IP Attorneys" by San Diego Daily Transcript in its annual survey of San Diego attorneys. Mark Reichenthal assumed Co-Chair duties of the Business & Intellectual Property Section of the San Diego North County Bar Association. Dave Branfman was one of the featured speakers at the monthly meeting of the San Diego Ad Club. His presentation was entitled "The Dirty Dozen Hot Intellectual Property Topics for the Advertising Community". June 2006: The firm and David Branfman - together with Ira Opper and Fred Ashman and the Pacific Southwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences ("PSW NATAS") - co-sponsored the Second Annual PSW NATAS Grant to Educators. This year's Grant was awarded to Grossmont High School which is opening a new media center in the fall. The Grant included Avid News Cutter software and $2,000 in cash. |
